The Institutional Compliance Office is responsible for enforcing and overseeing all aspects of the University’s Nondiscrimination Policy, including compliance with Title IX. The Compliance Office receives and investigates reports of potential misconduct, communicates regularly with parties and witnesses, coordinates supportive and protective services, and facilitates hearings related to violations.
About the Compliance Officer
Ryan Nely has served as Truman State University’s Institutional Compliance Officer and Title IX Coordinator since August 2021. Ryan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Truman in 2013, double majoring in Political Science and Philosophy and Religion. Ryan earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2016, with a concentration in criminal justice.
Prior to returning home to Truman in 2021, Ryan served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Kansas City, Missouri. He has also worked in private legal practice as a civil defense litigation associate, also in Kansas City.
Ryan greatly enjoys directly interacting with the students, faculty, staff, and guests who make the Truman community great. In his free time Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife Sophie, their son Leo, and their many pets. From April to October Ryan is likely watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. He is also particularly fond of burgers from Maxwell’s, gyros from the Greek Corner, playing board or video games with his friends, and listening to classic rock and Broadway musicals.
